Job summary

This post has arisen due to vacancy of 6 months initially, subject to review.

The post will enable us to maintain an adequate level of obstetrics and gynaecology activity and will be an excellent opportunity for candidates looking to gain further experience in the speciality.

It is full-time position however if you are unable, for personal reasons, work full time you will still be eligible to be considered for the post. If such a person is appointed, modification of the job description will be discussed on a personal basis following consultation with College Tutors.

This post is a service post and will not be recognised for training. You will receive full exposure to both elective and non-elective work in this speciality in the NHS. The appointee will be expected to undertake audit and quality improvement projects, as well as to attend clinical governance and educational meetings. The appointee will actively participate in the local educational programme of teaching undergraduates.

The successful candidate must comply with all generic and speciality Specific mandatory training including PROMPT, fetal Monitoring, Information Governance, Equality & Diversity, Safeguarding. These need to be enrolled and completed as soon as possible after starting. They must enrol on eLearning for many mandatory sessions via HEY24/7, login access and training will be provided.

Main duties of the job

Post will be based at the Women's and Children's Hospital, Hull Royal Infirmary, but the post holder will be expected to provide services across both main hospital sites as required.

Currently we have 1:11 rota, subject to change. You will be working as 1st on call and will be supported by second resident on call. We have resident consultant cover for 24 hours Monday to Friday; Weekend and Bank Holiday - nights and 8:00 -11:00 and non-resident after 11:00.

You will receive full exposure to both elective and non-elective work in this speciality.

We expect you to be able to perform initial assessments of patients, plan initial investigations and management under senior supervision.

You will be expected to participate in ward rounds, assist in theatre, undertake audit and quality improvement projects, as well as to attend clinical governance and educational meetings. The appointee will be actively participating in the local educational programme of teaching undergraduates.
