TheHull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust invites applications for a Trust Core Trainee position to join our Core Surgical Trainee rotation. The current initial 6 month position is available to start as soon as possible and is potentially open to extension dependent on further vacancies being available from August 2025.
As a Trust Doctor taking up one of these positions you will receive:
- A named Clinical Supervisor
- 10 Study Days Leave per annum
- £500 of Study Leave Allowance per annum
- Access to an e-portfolio
- An assigned Appraiser and access to Multi-Source Feedback 360 (if required) and an Appraisal System

Main duties of the job
The wealth of surgical exposure for a surgical trainee is arguably unrivalled in Yorkshire. In addition to elective duties, the cross-cover and acute component of this post will expose Trust Core Surgical Trainees to opportunities in caring for patients with colorectal and oesophago-gastric malignancy, anti-reflux, pancreatic and bariatric surgery. Castle Hill is an established advanced laparoscopic centre with Da Vinci Robot facilities. Doctors will obtain experience in a range of emergency abdominal presentations as well as blunt and penetrating trauma management.

HUTH has two main sites: Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital with an annual budget of approximately £500 million. The Trust employs around 11,000 staff and serves an extended population of 1.25 million, delivering a number of outpatient services from locations across the area.
The Trust's secondary care service portfolio is comprehensive, covering the major medical and surgical specialties, routine and specialist diagnostic services and other clinical support services. These services are provided primarily to a catchment population of approximately 600,000 in the Hull and East Riding of Yorkshire area.
