Are you a dietitian that would like to specialise in diabetes? We are looking to appoint a Band 6 Specialist Diabetes Dietitian to support the diabetes dietetic team here at Hull University Teaching hospitals.

You will be passionate about delivering a high standard of care, working with patients, their families and the professionals who support them to ensure that the care offered is needs based keeping the patient at the heart of all decisions about them.

The diabetes team provides 1:1 clinics, works closely with the diabetes MDT, maternity services and provide group education for type 1 diabetes (Type 1 & Me), type 2 diabetes (Living with Diabetes) and gestational diabetes. The team work with the latest diabetes technology and are based in the dedicated Allam diabetes centre,

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, forward thinking and will preferably have experience of working within diabetes.

Main duties of the job

The post holder is an experienced specialist autonomous practitioner, who acts within their professional boundaries, carrying the responsibility for a defined caseload of patients and will offer specialist dietary advice. This will include performing complex nutritional assessments and the development, implementation and evaluation of dietetic care. The post holder will act as an expert professional and will provide advice and knowledge on appropriate nutritional interventions for symptom control and disease management.

The post provides a developmental opportunity to be part of the diabetes dietetic team delivering services to various multi professional teams. This will involve implementing changes within clinical practice and enhancing patient safety and quality of dietetic and nutritional care.

The post holder will be required to assist in delivering staff education programmes, on-going clinical advice and clinical supervision to other professionals and student dietitians.
