Job summary
Applicants are sought for a substantive full time Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a subspeciality interest in Trauma and Upper limb surgery.
The post would involve working at Hull Royal Infirmary, Castle Hill Hospital and potentially Goole District Hospital and East Riding Community Hospital
The basic job plan would consist of 10Pas with the option to increase to 12 PAs
The successful applicant would take part in the general orthopaedic trauma rota on a 1 in 16 basis and the Major Trauma Rota on a 1 in 12 basis.
The post would consist of trauma and elective theatre, fracture clinic, elective clinics and major trauma ward round
Main duties of the job
It is anticipated that the successful candidate would be comfortable to manage the breadth of orthopaedic trauma but would have a special interest in Upper Limb trauma and would have undergone advanced training in this area.
Some of these cases are tertiary referrals from neighboring NHS trust hospitals.
The successful applicant would also have job planned theatre time to perform elective upper limb surgery. It is essential that the applicant has undergone advanced training in upper limb surgery, especially hand and wrist surgery including, complex wrist reconstruction and has ideally undergone fellowship training
The successful candidate will have a regular day surgery list at Castle Hill Hospital and potentially an in patient theatre list at Castle Hill Hospital. There may be the opportunity to run theatre lists at Goole District Hospital where the trust is developing a HVLC elective hub
They will conduct elective clinic sessions at CHH or HRI.
It is anticipated that the successful candidate would take on some management responsibility within the department such as Major Trauma Governance, Hip fracture lead etc. This would be recognized within the job plan with appropriate amount of SPA.
