Applications are invited from forward-thinking individuals to join the medical team in Neurosurgery. The post will be for 12 months with a possible extension. An opportunity is expected in near future of a substantive appointment.
This post is required to play a critical role in delivering support in the Day Surgery Unit for neurosurgery elective non-complex spine surgery for Hull, the Yorkshire & Humber region and North East Lincolnshire. The service treats patients from Hull, Scarborough, Bridlington, York, Grimsby, Scunthorpe, Lincoln, Louth and Doncaster. The Neurosurgical Unit has expanded from a two Consultants to thirteen Consultants over the past 18 years in response to clinical demand, Government and SBNS backed developments. The department is located across the two Hospital Sites at Hull Royal Infirmary (HRI) and Castle Hill Hospital (CHH) serving a population of approximately 1.3 million people.
To succeed you must have undergone extensive clinical training and experience and have the ability to offer expert clinical opinion on a range of problems both emergency and elective within the speciality.
The appointee will not participate in any on call rota, but this option remains as a subject to be reviewed at the end of placement.
Main duties of the job
The successful post holder will be required to provide services over five days. The work programme will be different for every week depending on availability of theatre and clinic spaces, but it will have a 2 to 4 week rolling pattern.
