Job summary

As our Deputy Finance Manager - Management Accounts, you will be a key member of our Finance Department. You will be responsible for leading and developing a large centralised Management Accounts team; providing services to our devolved finance teams (aligned with clinical services and corporate directorates), and to budget holders.

If you are someone who:

  • Is passionate about what you do and takes pride in delivering the very best work in a flexible way
  • Has previous and demonstrable leadership/management experience
  • Has previous experience within an accounting environment and have obtained your AAT qualification
  • Works in a pro-active way as an integral part of the team, managing month end processes and relationships with the team's service users
  • Has experience of working effectively, using your initiative and thinking on your feet
  • Possess good influencing and analytical skills
  • Can manage a number of tasks simultaneously and maintain excellent attention to detail while working to strict deadlines
  • Is an effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with a range of people from different backgrounds
  • Are good at managing competing priorities with diplomacy and confidence

Main duties of the job

The main duties of the role include:

  • Managing the work, development and performance of the centralised Management Accounts team
  • Overseeing and developing month end processes, ensuring continual improvement while maintaining reporting deadlines
  • Communicating developments within the centralised Management Accounts team, to the wider finance department
  • Working with devolved finance teams on improvement projects and other ad hoc work
  • Liaising with outsourced financial services providers regarding month end timetable and systems issues

About us

HUTH has two main sites: Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital with an annual budget of approximately £800 million. The Trust employs around 11,000 staff and serves an extended population of 1.25 million, delivering a number of outpatient services from locations across the area.

The Trust's secondary care service portfolio is comprehensive, covering the major medical and surgical specialties, routine and specialist diagnostic services and other clinical support services.
