Bank Learning Disability Support Worker
The closing date is 10 March 2026
Job summary
If you want flexibility but also to have the chance to be a regular, valued part of a compassionate and experienced team supporting individuals with learning disabilities, we would love to hear from you.
We are looking for Bank Support Workers at the Selden Centre, which is a specialist inpatient service supporting people with learning disabilities and complex needs, including mental health needs, autism and challenging behaviour.
We work with individuals whose needs cannot be safely met in their existing community settings, offering intensive assessment, therapeutic intervention, and person-centred support. People who are admitted to the centre will have a detailed treatment and/or intervention plan.
Although this is a bank role, we are specifically seeking people who can work regular shifts to build strong, trusting relationships with the people we support. Relationship-based, consistent support is central to helping our service users feel safe, valued and understood. In return you will gain a great deal of job satisfaction in seeing people develop and move on to better things.
Join the Selden Centre and help us deliver the safe, person-centred and life-changing care our service users deserve.
Main duties of the job
As part of the team at the Selden Centre you will:
- Work with the multi-disciplinary team to establish and deliver a therapeutic programme of care for clients using a person centred approach. Ensuring this is monitored on a daily basis and assist with assessment of clients' needs and planning and promotion of care delivery
- Undertake a range of delegated clinical health duties
- Records patients' information and to work within agreed support plans
- Help people develop skills, confidence and independence both inside the unit and in community-based opportunities.
- Support individuals with daily routines, meal preparation, shopping, involving clients where appropriate
- Assist with personal hygiene tasks, and as appropriate encourage self help
