Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to take a leading role in shaping the Trust's digital transformation. As Digital Medical Lead, you'll provide senior medical leadership within the Digital Directorate, helping to optimise and embed the new Electronic Patient Record (EPR), digital medicines systems (EPS/EPMA), and other digital innovations that support safe, efficient, and high-quality care.
Working alongside the Chief Clinical Information Officer (CCIO), Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO), and wider clinical and operational teams, you'll act as a key link between digital strategy and frontline practice -- ensuring that digital change genuinely supports clinicians and benefits patients.
This is a non-patient-facing role offering the opportunity to influence service improvement, clinical safety, and the future of digital healthcare across Sussex Partnership.
Main duties of the job

Provide senior medical leadership to the Trust's digital transformation programme, ensuring digital initiatives such as the Electronic Patient Record (EPR) and digital medicines (EPS/EPMA) are clinically safe, effective, and aligned with service needs.

Act as a key interface between clinical teams and the Digital Directorate, supporting engagement, user-led design, and adoption of new technology.

Offer expert clinical advice into digital programmes and governance structures, supporting clinical safety cases and benefit realisation.

Work collaboratively with the Chief Clinical Information Officer (CCIO), Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO), and other digital leads to deliver high-quality, digitally enabled care.

Promote digital literacy and culture change across the medical workforce, encouraging innovation and continuous improvement in digital practice.

- Post-graduate degree, MSc or PhD from NHS Digital Academy or similar leadership programme or evidence of leadership development
Knowledge/Experience/Skills

- Experience of leading clinical/digital or operational teams within the NHS
- Experience of managing stakeholder relationships
- Experience of setting up and implementing internal processes and procedures
- Ability to communicate complex technical issues clearly to a non-technical audience.
