Occupational Therapy Clinical Support Worker

Job summary

We are looking for a committed band 3 Occupational Therapy Clinical Support Worker to join the inpatient Occupational Therapies Team at Langley Green Hospital, Crawley, West Sussex. You will be based on one of the four wards caring for acute adult, older adult or PICU service users.

The role includes facilitation of group and 1:1 therapeutic intervention to patients experiencing acute mental health difficulties, using psycho-social, occupational and sensory-based approaches to promote patients' recovery and wellbeing.

You will have strong communication and people skills, and a non-judgemental, person-centred, recovery approach. A compassionate, caring attitude and desire to make a difference is essential. Skills and experience in running groups and working within a mental health setting is desirable.General computer and administration skills are also required.

You will receive regular clinical supervision from the ward occupational therapist, with additional learning and networking opportunities to support your skills knowledge and development.

Main duties of the job

To work in collaboration with the ward multidisciplinary team, including occupational therapists, activity coordinators, nurses, doctors, social workers, psychologists, and the discharge team and community practitioners to support patients in their recovery.

Under the guidance of an Occupational Therapist, facilitate andparticipate in Patient assessment, group work, and individual activities to support the delivery of clinical interventions, using a range of technical and creative skills to engage patients in occupational activities.

To monitor patients progress, taking account of their environment and adjust clinical interventions accordingly under supervision from anOccupational Therapist.
