Job summary

The Chief Medical Information Officer is a senior leader responsible for driving the Trust's digital strategy, leading digital transformation projects, and ensuring alignment with organisational goals. The post provides expert clinical and digital leadership, supports the implementation of key systems like electronic patient records, and includes two sessions of clinical work, with details tailored to the successful applicant.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide senior clinical leadership for digital transformation across the Trust, including the implementation of electronic patient record and prescribing systems.
  • Lead the development and delivery of the Trust's digital strategy, working closely with the Chief Clinical Information Officer and digital clinical team.
  • Act as the medical lead for digital innovation, engaging clinicians and stakeholders to drive quality improvement and best practice in digital healthcare.
  • Serve as product owner for digital medicine systems such as EPS and/or EPMA.
  • Lead digital literacy programmes and align them to relevant frameworks.
  • Provide expert advice, support co-production of digital solutions with patients and carers, and represent the Trust in key system and partnership meetings.
  • Undertake two sessions per week of clinical work as a consultant psychiatrist, with responsibilities including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and clinical leadership of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Contribute to clinical governance, audit, teaching, and service development, upholding the highest standards of patient care and safety.

  • NHS Digital Health Leadership Alumni (MSc or PGDip)

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a senior position within the NHS in England.
  • Track record of delivering large scale change and knowledge of quality improvement methodologies and evidence in a multi-agency community setting.
  • Excellent clinical knowledge and skills in psychiatry, with experience managing complex cases.

Desirable

  • Experience as clinical director or equivalent in a mental health trust
  • Experience leading digital quality improvement projects
  • Demonstrable experience in leading at least one digital change programme, such as deployment of an Electronic Patient Record system to improve care quality, within the last three years.
