An exciting opportunity has arisen to take the role of Lead Occupational Therapist, Band 6 with the Brighton & Hove Group Treatment Service (GTS).

We are looking to recruit into a part-time position working four days a week.

The OT specific responsibilities of this post are to lead the development of occupational therapy practice across the GTS, introducing and developing clinical initiatives and offer professional support and development to junior OT staff within the GTS.

The Brighton and Hove Group Treatment Service delivers groups alongside 1:1 sessions for clients in secondary care. The service provides a psychoeducational group program using the Recovery model developed within a CBT approach, drawing on mindfulness, self- compassion and acceptance and commitment therapy. The psychoeducation component aims to support people in developing an understanding of their difficulties and the development of new life skills.

This role includes facilitation of psychoeducational and creative groups.

The successful candidate will take a lead role in managing referrals to the GTS and manage the daily running of the service at this site.

You will also hold a caseload of service users with complex needs and will be expected to use evidence based / client centered principles to assess, plan and evaluate interventions.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for assessing patients (which includes assessment for suitability for the group treatment programme), and providing individual therapeutic interventions to support the group work.

To lead the OT specific practice within GTS, offering professional supervision and preceptorship.

You will be in charge of facilitating groups and managing your own clinical case load, you will also have Lead Practitioner responsibility. This is an excellent opportunity to develop skills in working within a psychological framework, and facilitating and developing groups. The GTS provides an excellent supervision package to facilitate this learning.

This role will require you to process referrals and manage the team on a day to day basis. You will have supervision responsibilities and need to liaise with ATS and the specialist services who access GTS.

You will need to understand interventions relevant to the care group to include assessment, psychoeducation, clinical care and interventions, group facilitation, wellness recovery action plans and discharge planning.

About us

At GTS we are a small team who work closely together. We have regular supervisions and participate in reflective practice to work with service users in the secondary services. We support all new staff learning to co-facilitate our group program using a preceptorship model.
