We are seeking a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join us in Heathfield Ward, based at the Department of Psychiatry, Eastbourne. In this role you will join our dedicated team of professionals who are responsible for providing the highest standards of care and support to our patients.
We are a part of The Department of Psychiatry, set alongside Eastbourne's District General Hospital. The Department of Psychiatry has three on-site inpatient wards for adults with mental health problems: Heathfield Ward, Amberley Ward & Bodiam Ward.
We are building a new hospital in Bexhill to replace our inpatient services at the Department of Psychiatry. This means that, if you are successful in your application, you will be asked to transfer to the new facilities when it opens in 2026
Main duties of the job
As a Staff Nurse on Heathfield Ward you will be a vital part of our multi-disciplinary team, undertaking assessments of patients with complex mental health needs. Heathfield Ward provides opportunities to deliver patient-centred holistic care, working closely with OT's, psychologists and doctors in supporting patients in their recovery.
You will be developing care and recovery plans in collaboration with the patients and their families/carers, while regularly assessing, reviewing and managing risk. Acting as a Primary Nurse, you will provide clinical and managerial leadership on the ward, supervising junior staff and trainees, allowing you to develop your skills and experience.
You will experience a high sense of job satisfaction, helping people adjust and recover from acute mental health issues in the later stages of life.
We work flexibly in order to meet the needs of our 24-hour service, to include evenings, nights and weekends. This brings increased pay rates as detailed below
