Job summary
Applications are invited from Applied Psychologists for a fixed term one year Band 8a post (0.4WTE; 15 hours) within Brighton & Hove Community Mental Health Services. Applicants must be registered as Practitioner Psychologists with the HCPC.
The post-holder will be part of the Neighbourhood Mental Health Team (NMHT), which provides community mental health services for adults of all ages. The service is multi-professional and based across two hubs in East and West Brighton. This post will be based at the East hub at East Brighton Community Mental Health Centre, Brighton.
Main duties of the job
The role involves working with people with complex mental health problems, their families and carers. The post-holder will be also be expected to provide supervision and consultation to other psychologists, trainees and members of the multidisciplinary team where appropriate, and to support the leadership team in Psychology and Psychological Therapies and the wider NMHT with various tasks.

- Doctoral level training in applied psychology [or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996 or outside the UK], including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology, approved by the HPC
- Professionally registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC)
Knowledge/Experience

- Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care and in patient settings.
- Demonstrate specialist experience gained postqualification of working as an applied psychologist with evidence of having received a substantial amount of clinical supervision (normally in the region of approximately 50 hours)
- Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex, multivariate data analysis as practiced within the clinical fields of psychology.
- Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.
