Job summary

We are looking for a motivated and passionate Clinical Lead to lead theOp CourageVeterans Mental Health Service for Kent, Surrey and Sussex. Working in Partnership with Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust, we deliver this essential service for military veterans across the Southeast. The post holder will clinically lead the service driving excellence in the mental health care of military veterans bringing their knowledge and expertise of this specialist clinical area.OP Courageis a specialist multidisciplinary team consisting of psychiatry, nursing, psychology and peer workers. The team provides comprehensive assessment and evidence based treatments as well as working closely with other military charities and organisations to support our veteran community.

The role demands a dynamic and proactive experienced clinician with strong proven clinical leadership skills. The post holder will have a strong commitment to the mental health needs of the veteran community and will strive for clinical excellence in their own clinical delivery and for that of the team.

The post holder will have a strong commitment to the involvement and engagement of the veteran community and their families in the delivery and ongoing clinical development of the service. They will have a quality improvement focus and commitment to evidence based practice together with ensuring robust clinical governance structures are in place.

Main duties of the job

oTo provide oversight of the clinical provision of the Op Courage service across the stepped care pathway. This will include the provision of highly specialist psychological therapy, and oversight of assessment, formulation and interventions based on highly specialist experience of working in mental health services and of delivering appropriate interventions.oTo be responsible for the clinical governance of the Op Courage service with a particular focus on clinical supervision and case management, and the line management of the Clinical and Psychological Therapists. An imperative part of the post is the responsibility for ensuring effective and safe clinical governance structures and leadership processes are in place for the Op Courage service.oTo provide clinical leadership to staff delivering Op Courage interventions, offering advice and consultation on client's psychological care to individuals working within the service and others, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the service's and trust's policies and procedures.oTo utilise research and audit skills to provide leadership around audit, service evaluation and research activity within the Op Courage service.o To work closely with the General Manager who will provide operational leadership to the Op Courage service, ensuring

  • Training in evidence-based psychological therapy for PTSD

  • Post graduate certificate in evidence based psychological treatments and eligible for BABCP accreditation
