Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Specialty Doctor to join the Arun Community Assessment and Treatment service based in Littlehampton which is part of the Arun Neighbourhood Mental Health Team (NMHT) in Coastal West Sussex.

West Sussex Community services are divided into two main areas: North West Sussex and Coastal Sussex. Coastal Sussex has four mental health Assessment and Treatment services as part of newly formed Neighbourhood Mental Health Teams located in Bognor, Worthing, Littlehampton, and Chichester. Each ATS covers a geographical area aligned with GP surgeries to facilitate liaison with Primary Care colleagues. This position is within Arun NMHT/ Littlehampton ATS based at Pepperville House Littlehampton.

Psychiatrists are integral for driving change and influencing service development. As a Trust we welcome positive transformation and using each other's experiences to shape this. Main duties of the job

We are a large multi-disciplinary community mental health team, which provides specialist assessments and treatment to patients presenting with a range of complex and unstable mental health and social needs.

As a specialty doctor in our team, your main duties will be to:

Conduct new assessments, including detailed evaluations and risk assessments, and develop management plans.

Review patients already known to the ATS as needed and direct their treatment.

Liaise with local primary care services and offer advice and guidance.

Supervise junior medical staff and advise other team members, including the duty worker.

Provide senior clinical leadership to the ATS alongside fellow medics.

  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • 4 years at full-time postgraduate training or higher or equivalent experience with at least 2 years in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty
