Job summary

To contribute to the broad Nursing Research, Education and Development administrative agenda and to support the Department of Nursing Research, Education and Development (NRED) objectives of providing positive, high-quality learning experiences for students and our staff, through a range of education programmes, projects and new initiatives.

To support the allocation of placements by keeping accurate records and communicating with Teams and Universities.

Main duties of the job

To coordinate clinical placements and experiences for pre-registration nursing and paramedic students and trainees, ensuring the required exposure to clinical experiences, and the opportunity to gain the skills necessary to become registered professionals upon completion of their programme; to coordinate insight placements for further education students.

To work alongside a Practice Education Facilitator (PEF) to facilitate the seamless allocation of student placements (nursing, paramedic, apprentices) and to ensure recording keeping is up to date.

To promote and facilitate effective communication between clinical placement teams, the Department, higher education institutions (HEIs) and further education colleges (FE), ensuring the placement processes and systems run smoothly and efficiently and are a positive experience for learners and placement teams.

To improve and maintain the placement administration function and workflow within the team. To consistently deliver a client focussed service, which promotes good customer service and effective working relationships.

To support the expansion and optimisation of clinical placement capacity at SPFT, implementing change through a placement development programme.

Develop a close working relationship with HEI and FE partner placement teams to effectively plan and coordinate student and trainee allocations to clinical placements.

Be a resource of information in relation to clinical placement coordination and capacity, including managing and auditing the placement management database and required reporting.

Promote and facilitate effective communication between the clinical areas, NRED, FE and HEIs partners.

Monitor email inboxes and respond and deal efficiently with written and verbal enquiries.

Coordinate and managethestudent placement planner.

Support maintenance of up to date and accurate records on relevant departmental databases, ensuring relevant and timely information is shared with HEI partners and clinical areas as required.

Maintain a professional and highly confidential approach to all work carried out for NRED.

Qualifications

Essential

  • NVQ 3 in Business & Administration or evidence of equivalent practical experience
  • Good standard of secondary education; GCSE at Grade C/Grade 4 or above

Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge of current NHS performance agenda
  • Experience of maintaining detailed database and spreadsheet information
  • Significant experience of a range of administration procedures. Including scheduling and or data management.
  • Experience of producing data for reporting purposes.
