The Hellingly Centre is a low and medium secure unit for people between the ages of 18-65 who have mental health problems and who have become involved with the criminal justice system. There are three medium secure inpatient wards and one low secure ward, housed in a recently built unit in the beautiful surroundings of the Sussex countryside.
Main duties of the job
As part of our experienced Psychological Professions team, you will work alongside a Principal Psychologist, providing the psychology input for Oak ward, also working with an Assistant Psychologist, Art Therapist and Addiction Counsellor to provide psychological interventions for the service users. You will also work across all four wards, providing therapeutic interventions and assessments, providing the opportunity to develop your clinical skills in different contexts (on male and female wards, and medium and low secure wards). There will be the opportunity to be part of the provision of existing therapeutic groups such as DBT-informed groups, offending behaviour groups and other evidence-based groups. There will be opportunities to be involved in training, service development, evaluation of the outcomes of our work and submitting this for publication. There are opportunities to learn, deliver and/or support family interventions and restorative practice interventions.
