Job summary

The Trust is seeking a part-time (2 PAs) Locum Consultant Old Age Psychiatrist with experience and a successful track record in delivering dementia clinical research, to join the Research and Development Department at Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. This post will be based at the Dementia Research Unit (DRU) in Crowborough, but the appointed applicant would be expected to travel to other parts of the Trust to deliver on Trust commitment to dementia research.

The postholder will provide medical cover to people who are volunteering as participants in phase II-IV dementia clinical trials, and either attend the Dementia Research Unit or receive home visits from the research team.

The successful applicant will join the DRU team and will have had an extensive experience in phase II-IV dementia clinical trials, including anti-amyloid monoclonal antibody infusion research.

This vacancy has arisen due to the voluntary resignation of the current part-time Consultant postholder.

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder is required to deliver trial relevant clinical duties to patients taking part in clinical research.
  • The post holder will liaise with medical agencies and organisations, sponsors' medical monitors and CRAs and general practitioners as needed.
  • The post holder will be expected to cover the Chief/Principal Investigator during periods of absence.

The post holder will join a passionate and enthusiastic dementia research team and work closely with the Chief/Principal Investigator, Clinical Research Team Lead and all members of the dementia research team. They will contribute to all research activities.

  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.

Desirable

  • Qualification or higher degree in dementia related medical education, clinical research or management.

  • Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months.

Desirable

  • In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice
