Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Trust as Director of Performance & Insight. Reporting to the Chief Finance Officer, the Director of Performance & Insight leads on all aspects of operational performance and insight for the Trust, as well as supporting the development of clear governance frameworks. The successful post holder will oversee the performance and business intelligence functions at the Trust and is responsible for ensuring that Sussex Partnership NHS FT robustly monitors achievement of national, regional and local performance standards.

Our mission is to champion the rights of people with mental health problems and learning disabilities. As our future Director of Performance & Insight, the successful postholder will need to work with our partners to provide high quality analysis that enables the Trust to develop a robust understanding of our services and better support the development of short-, medium- and long-term plans for improvement. They will need to be a good communicator and collaborator, able to build strong relationships with all operational and corporate divisions to help drive forward improvements in care.

Main duties of the job

To ensure that all divisional teams are supported to deliver the Trusts core standards and long-term-plan objectives through data sourced via a robust data and information framework.The post-holder will be responsible for ensuring recovery plans are in place for all areas where Trust performance is not achieving the agreed standards, as well as embedding programmes of work to deliver robust demand and capacity modelling and productivity monitoring across allservices. This will include working closely with other corporate, operational and clinical teams to support improvement in areas identified.

Provide assurance to the Executive team, and Board regarding the quality of data and highlight areas of concern and action plans for improvement as appropriate.Support the Board, Executive and divisional leadership teams with the provision of robust data and information to deliver complex analysis, scenario modelling, prediction of trends, performance improvement whilst delivering against an agreed budget. The postholder will work closely with staff at all levels of the organisation and with some external bodies, building strong relationships in order to achieve excellent outcomes.The postholder will be responsible for producing high quality reports for the Trust Executive, Board and external stakeholders as well as present complex information in a concise and clear way articulating the risks, benefits and making recommendations on the decisions required.The postholder will be responsible for representing the Trust to external stakeholders both at a local, regional and national level and must be adept and politically astute to recognise the different approaches required in dealing with a varied range of stakeholders

  • Masters Degree or equivalent knowledge and experience preferably with an information or analytical focus
  • Significant post qualification experience working at a senior level, with a strong professional reputation built on a track record of career development through delivery
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Professional management training / qualification

Knowledge/Experience

Essential

  • Knowledge of current NHS performance agenda
  • Significant experience of working at a senior level within a large complex organisation (NHS experience desirable, but not essential)
  • Experience of working with Executive Directors, very senior managers and leaders
  • Experience of leading and implementing Performance, improvement and business intelligence strategies and frameworks within a large organisation
  • Proven ability to build enduring and effective stakeholder relationships
  • Demonstrate evidence of sound financial management / building strong and productive teams
