Job summary
SPFT have an exciting opportunity for a CAMHS Consultant Psychiatrist to join the Trust in a Clinical Director Role covering the Kent and Sussex Provider Collaborative, and the Wessex and Dorset CAMHS Provider Collaborative.
The post holder will clinically lead with the Programme Director and the Provider Collaborative team in delivering an effective service, to ensure safe and effective care pathways are in place for Child and Adolescent service users from the Kent and Sussex, and Wessex and Dorset region, in mental health care inpatient settings within the NHS and Independent sector.
The Clinical Director role will have opportunities to input to changes at a national and regional level. You will also be pivotal in building and facilitating relationships/partnerships, and bringing clinicians together to drive innovation whilst putting patients at the centre of all we do within the collaborative.
Base would be flexible across our Trust sites and will be agreed on appointment.
Please note this role attracts a responsibility payment of £10,000 per annum.

Main duties of the job
This is an exciting opportunity to join the CAMHS Provider Collaborative as a Clinical Director supporting effective patient pathways across a wide footprint. This role will play an important part of providingclinical perspective to the commissioning function of the Provider Collaborative for CAMHS.
The post holder will need to monitor and inform regional and national developments relating to CAMHS, especially coeval bed capacity changes, current patient experience, and clinical and functional outcomes.
With the Programme Director, partner organisations and stakeholders, scope the need for specialist services (whether inpatient or community) pursuant to the aims of the Collaborative. You will also work with the Programme Director on mediating any disputes between the partners and stakeholders, taking a lead when these disputes involve clinical matters.
You will establish and monitor pre-admission, admission, bed occupancy, discharge and re-admission data collection and management systems for Kent/Sussex and Wessex and Dorset. The post holder will also be a member of the relevant Provider Collaborative Boards, and attendance at meetings is expected.
The role is also likely to involve attendance at events outside the organisation so the you will need to ensure you maintain your knowledge of national best practice and keep abreast of developments in the national Provider Collaborative process.

- Further step-down and discharge from inpatient care, for example from high dependency or intensive care beds (High Dependency/Intensive Care/Low-Medium Secure) to General Adolescent bed or to the community, when young people no longer meet the criteria for admission or transition to other services.
- Assess young people admitted to hospital (whether in Wessex/Dorset. Kent/Sussex or out-of-area) whose clinical progress appears to be stalled or whose complexity results in delayed progress
- Involved in urgent Mental Health Act assessments as required
- Provide clinical accountability for decision-making on admissions, particularly where proposed admissions are at the edges of standardised admission criteria and where young people have specialist needs
- Chair Wessex/Dorset and Kent/Sussex weekly clinical activity panels focusing on the aforementioned
- Provide clinical leadership and support to Provider Collaborative case managers involved in admission decision-making
- The clinical work for the post-holder will be on a one-off consultative basis. They will not hold a clinical caseload of their own.

- MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
- Full registration with General Medical Council
- Fellowship/Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent and/or on the Specialist Register with the General Medical Council or other professional regulatory body
