Job summary

Do you have a passion for working within CAMHS? We are seeking to recruit a number of passionate B8b Practitioner Psychologists to join our well established and expanding CAMHs service in Hampshire. We have 7 community teams and an Early Help Service, as well as Specialist Services including Eating Disorders, Paediatric Psychiatric Liaison, i2i (Crisis) and a Digital Team. We are about to expand further increasing the provision we offer to children in care and those with an intellectual disability &/or autism diagnosis.

We are looking for creative, passionate clinicians who can support the service in moving forward with our transformation & expansion plans. There are opportunities to lead on various areas in the service. 50% of the role will be protected to have a clinical focus to allow you to maintain your own clinical expertise. 50% will be protected to have a non clinical project & leadership focus.

We are happy to hear from practitioners looking to progress and step up into an 8b role and can offer leadership support and a training package to facilitate this.

Main duties of the job

For the clinical part of the post you will join our Eastleigh team. We are a small and supportive team, based in the centre of Eastleigh. As an area, Eastleigh has great public transport links and a community feel to it. We have several members of the team who have been in the team for many years, we support new starters very well as a whole team, and foster a learning environment.

As part of your clinical hours you will be a key member of Eastleigh CAMHs team providing evidence-based assessment, formulation, treatment interventions with young people and families. You will also provide specialist psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals. As a senior member of the team you will also contribute to the development, evaluation and monitoring of the team's operational policies and services.

In the non clinical part of the role you will be responsible for the governance & supervision structure of a group of psychologists and psychological therapists in the region and will support psychological practise through consultation, supervision, formulation and training. You will also actively involved in workforce development and lead on an agreed identified area of service development and improvement.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Post-graduate doctoral level training in applied psychology [or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996 or outside the UK] as approved by the HCPC, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology.
  • Professionally registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health Professions Council (HCPC)

Knowledge/Experience

Essential

  • Significant assessed experience of working as a qualified psychologist.
  • Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and presenting with the full range of clinical severity across the full range of care settings including outpatient, community, primary care, in-patient and residential care settings severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.
