Senior Nurse Practitioner in Adult Community Mental Health - Band 7 - Full-time

Are you an experienced band 6 mental health nurse who is keen to develop their clinical leadership skills in an innovative and exciting community mental health service?

This is a key Senior Nurse Practitioner post in the High Weald, Lewes and Havens Assessment and Treatment Service which has two sites: in Uckfield and Newhaven.

The service sits within the beautiful landscape of the South Downs National Park and is only a few miles from the cosmopolitan city of Brighton. Our community mental health services are undergoing a huge transformation as we move to a more integrated network of services, with our mental health teams being central in driving the changes.

Main duties of the job

The Senior Nurse Practitioner provides clinical, professional and management supervision to all the nurses in the service. They coordinate the training and registration of all nursing staff. They provide practice education for nursing associates, nursing degree apprentices and sometimes nursing students. They hold a capped caseload of complex, high risk secondary care patients. They act as co-worker to support other Lead Practitioners with particularly challenging cases. They support the coordination and delivery of the ATS Duty service across our two sites. They lead on the the overall clinical management of the clinic rooms at both sites. They handle all nursing and medication related incidents and complaints and lead on the implementation of any new regulatory or service improvement that is particularly related to nursing practice. Many of these functions cannot be adequately or safely delivered by a series of bank or agency staff. The functions support high standards of health care delivery and maintain the wellbeing, retention and recruitment of staff. Their clinical leadership and experience is essential to support safe and effective practice with some of our most high risk service users.

About us

As a mental health trust Sussex Partnership places a huge focus on the wellbeing of our staff, as well as ensuring our reward packages reflect the immensely important work they do.

As a Senior Nurse Practitioner in our team we can offer you:

  • Access to numerous wellbeing and support programmes, run by our internal wellbeing team
  • Excellent supervision programmes, with ongoing opportunities for training and development
  • Flexible working patterns
  • Access to a host of discount schemes (including gyms, shopping, restaurants and cars)
  • A position within a trust rated as 'Outstanding' for caring and 'Good' overall by the CQC
  • Generous holiday entitlement (starting at 27 days + 8 bank holidays)

If you are looking for the opportunity to work within a busy but rewarding Assessment and Treatment service in the heart of The South Downs National Park, then we would love to hear from you.
