Job summary
Are you looking to start your Occupational Therapy career in a recovery oriented, occupation-focused, supportive multidisciplinary service?
We are seeking an Occupational Therapist to work at The Chichester Centre, providing inpatient mental health care and treatment in conditions of low security. The service is dynamic, forward-thinking, and always looking for ways to improve. We are a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists' Quality Network for Forensic Mental Health Services and actively engage in the Peer Review cycle.
The service offers a variety of opportunities to practice, develop and extend your core Occupational Therapy skills within a regional, specialist service. The Occupational Therapist role includes providing and supporting individual work as well as focused group work. You will be supported by experienced senior occupational therapy staff and the close multidisciplinary team.
We offer a commitment to staff support, including regular supervision and established preceptorship programme; an opportunity to gain specialist experience in forensic practice; encouragement and support to undertake training and professional development, and opportunities to be involved with research.

Main duties of the job
To manage a caseload of clients with the regular support and supervision of a professional supervisor, using evidence based/ client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
To provide Occupational Therapy interventions as part of a multidisciplinary approach to meeting the health and social care needs of people who use our services.
To contribute to and facilitate Occupational Therapy interventions including individual and group work within the centre and accessing community resources.
To protect the health and safety of our staff/workers, patients, and those attending our sites, we encourage our workforce to get fully vaccinated against COVID
About us
The Chichester Centre is a 3-ward (49 bed) unit on the Graylingwell site. There is a full multidisciplinary team for each ward, comprising medical, nursing, occupational therapy, psychology and social work colleagues, as well as a drama therapist and the Peer Support Worker who work across the centre.The centre is a friendly work environment, and is located near a park and with easy access to shops. The centre is walking distance to Chichester centre, and also offers convenient access to local walks as well as the beach.
Chichester itself is a cathedral city and the county town of West Sussex. It is ideally located between the South Downs National Park and the beaches of the south coast, whilst having good road and rail links to larger cities of Brighton, Portsmouth, Southampton and London.
