Job summary

The postholder will be responsible for carrying out initial assessments to young people referred via SPoA with some opportunity to offer therapeutic interventions to young people and their families.

This post offers The Trust's Golden Hello for band 5 or 6 Nurses, or a Relocation package up to a maximum of £2000. (pro rata applies and subject to terms and conditions. Please see attached Protocol document

Main duties of the job

  1. To develop & maintain specialist clinical skills and expertise in the assessment of young people referred to CAMHS via SPOA
  2. To offer advice on management of patients with mental health issues and non-organically based physical symptoms.
  3. To ensure assessment, care and support of each client is appropriate to individual needs.
  4. To feedback outcomes of assessment to the referrer and agree care and risk plans.
  5. To ensure that children and young people requiring further assessment and help are referred on appropriately.
  6. To provide consultation to other professionals regarding mental health issues in relation to young people and their families.
  7. To know how to access appropriate services and develop effective networks and channels of communications.
  8. To adhere to relevant code of Professional Conduct.
  9. To attend case conferences & meetings as relevant to the job description.
  10. Work in accordance with Sussex Partnership Foundation NHS and West Sussex Hospital trusts' policies, guidelines and protocols.

  • Working autonomously to a defined caseload of clients diagnosed with mild to moderate mental health problems. This will include offering specific interventions such as psycho-education, CBT informed sessions and short term recovery focused interventions
  • You will complete initial assessments and work closely with our referrals coordinators, GP's and other agencies.
  • Your interventions will be a pre-defined offer of 6-8 sessions.
  • You are welcome to co-facilitate groups if you have an interest in this area.

To work closely with other practitioners, local day services, local education establishments employment agencies and third sector servicesTo provide information to patients, and their carers, about their care and options available to them.To ensure that the service is equitable and accessible to clients and carers.Quality and auditTo ensure that assessment and interventions are provided to agreed standards.To keep GPs and primary care teams well informed on outcomes of interventions and therapies provided to their patients.

  • oExperience of providing a range of clinical interventions to people with a variety of mental health problems.
