Job summary

Coastal CAMHS Band 7-8 Preceptorship opportunity for a Clinical Psychologist 22.5 hours per week.

Our extremely friendly multi-disciplinary team in Coastal West Sussex are currently looking for a substantive Band 7-8 Preceptorship Clinical Psychologist. We are very proud of our strong Clinical Psychology structure in West Sussex andyou will be working alongside an 8b Psychologist, a Band 7 Psychologist and Assistant Psychologists. We also provide Trainee Clinical Psychology and Undergraduate Psychology placements.

You will have the chance to learn and grow in the coastal team. You will be part of a vibrant psychology department who will support and mentor your professional development and connection to the wider profession through the SPFT PP department and the wider PPN network. Main duties of the job

The post holder will join the other psychologists in providing assessment (including neurodevelopmental), formulation, individual and group interventions and consultation using a range of therapeutic approaches including CBT, systemic and EMDR. The post holder will work closely with their team colleagues, the 8b Principal Psychologist, the Band 7 Clinical Psychologist and the Service Manager. You will receive high standards of supervision including secondary supervision packages in CBT, IPT, EMDR, DBT, ASD and group work.

You will work as a member of the clinical service/ team within Coastal CAMHS. Providing a high quality, specialist applied psychology service to clients, their families or carers. In addition, to support psychological practice within the Coastal CAMHS team through consultation, supervision, formulation and training and by participating in systematic clinical governance. To utilise research skills for audit, service development and research within the area served by the team/service.

The Preceptorship Development Plan will ensure you are supported to progress from a band 7 to 8a role in this post within 3 years (please see attached document for details). This will include many opportunities to develop your knowledge and skills, including access to high quality training, supervision as well as opportunities to develop your special interests and expertise in line with service and team objectives.

In order to be a successful Preceptorship Clinical Psychologist in our team you will:

  • Be a qualified Clinical or Counselling Psychologist, professionally registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Be passionate about working with young people and have knowledge and skills in evidence-based assessments and interventions.
  • Provide expert advice, consultation, training and clinical supervision to other members of the service.

The post is 3 days a week, from 9am to 5pm. The post will be made up of a combination of face to face clinical work, office time and remote working as appropriate. We welcome informal visits and/or a phone conversation about the service and this post.
