Ward Administrator

Job summary

The purpose of this role is to provide an efficient and high standard of administrative service to the ward. To ensure that a welcoming and professional greeting service is provided to patients and visitors; to ensure the smooth running of the admission and discharge process for patients on the ward and to ensure accurate and timely completion of data recording.

The post holder will be aligned to a specific ward/locality and is required to work flexibly in response to the needs of the networks administrative service providing cover on various sites as directed by their Line Manager to ensure continuity of a quality service provision.

The post-holder will have knowledge of all the relevant customer service proceduresapplicable to this role as well as the ability to deal with non-routine activities that arise. Problem solving is an integral part of the role. The role will involve contact daily with a wide range of people and therefore requires a confident approach. The post holder will need to be a team player with very strong communication skills.

Main duties of the job

Receive, allocate and dispatch internal /external mail in line with the Trust policy.

Provide a comprehensive administrative service which will include minute taking, live minute taking, compilation of reports and other correspondence on behalf of the ward manager and other members of the team, ensuring a high standard in accordance with Trust standards.

To create and maintain effective working relationships with staff at all levels, internal and external across the whole health economy.

Work collaboratively with the appropriate management teams and other departments, including clinicians, to ensure that the appropriate leads are notified in the case of matters of urgency and dealt with in a timely manner.
