Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within Children and Young People Mental Health Inpatient Services (CYPMH) based at The Cove.

The Cove are looking to appoint a Band 5 Occupational Therapist to provide assessments and intervention for the inpatient young people.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities

  • To undertake occupational therapy assessments for a designated caseload addressing occupational performance, strengths and skills deficits, enabling the service user in areas of self-care, productivity and leisure, e.g., MOHO assessments (SCOPE and COSA), CANSAS?, Functional Assessments.
  • To assess and manage risk and monitor the mental and physical health status of young people.
  • To collaboratively identify the goals of occupational therapy intervention with the young person as part of the overall care plan.
  • To plan and implement individual and/or group evidence-based, socially-inclusive interventions, in collaboration with the young person, using a bespoke approach to achieve therapeutic goals, e.g., goal planning, graded interventions, coping strategy enhancement and psychosocial interventions.
  • To monitor, evaluate and modify treatment for young people with complex mental health needs, through use of baseline and outcome measures, in order to gauge progress and ensure effectiveness of the intervention.
  • To provide explicit, unambiguous and concise Occupational Therapy Plans that can be delegated to, and followed by, support staff.
  • To share assessments, occupational therapy plans, and results of interventions with members of the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT), and in particular Care Co-ordinators.
