We are pleased to be able to offer a rare, exciting and highly innovative opportunity for a part time, Specialist Nurse to complement our existing SUDC Team.

You will be a highly experienced practitioner in the area of child health and demonstrate extensive experience of community work/home visiting in addition to multi-agency working.

Your role within a multi-disciplinary team will be to act as 'Lead Health Professional' to ensure that all health responses are implemented. This will involve working jointly with the Senior Investigating Police Officer to assist in analysing and interpreting complex information gathered at the scene of the death and present the findings to the Pathologist prior to postmortem examination and Coroner's office to inform the Inquest process.

Your role will also require you to visit a bereaved family following the sudden death of their child, acting as a 'Key Worker' and ensuring ongoing support is provided. Your ability to work in partnership with and communicate highly sensitive, contentious information in an empathetic manner to bereaved relatives is an essential feature of this role.

Main duties of the job

In addition, you will be expected to be a key part of the child death review process and work with the Child Death Overview Panel (CDOP) to contribute to the analysis of themes and trends in child deaths, identify lessons learnt and actions taken and the effectiveness of the wider child death review process.

You will be expected to deliver formal reports and presentations to large groups of practitioners and strategic groups as well as participation in international, regional and national networks

With excellent communication, analytical and coordination skills you will have the ability to lead within a multi-agency team within this challenging, highly emotive agenda on a daily basis.

Working hours will consist of working 3 days per week between the hours of 9-5pm. The SUDC Team cover a 7-day service so you will contribute to the 'on call' rota which is shared between the team, to ensure service provision on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays. Occasional evening work may be required.

The candidate will be required to travel across the Lancashire Health economy.
