CYPMH Team Leader - Primary Mental Health

An opportunity has arisen for a motivated individual to join CYP Central and West as a Team Leader. Working to deliver Mental Health Care to the highest possible standard, applications are invited from experienced professionals to take on the challenging role of Team Leader.

We currently require a practitioner with previous experience at Band 6 who have recent and experience of working within a CYPMH team/primary mental health service would be desirable. All applicants must have an interest and skills in psychological approaches to working with clients and have a commitment to working collaboratively with clients who may present challenges for engagement.

The post holder will be responsible for leading and managing Primary Mental Health Workers and Children & Young People's Wellbeing Practitioners across CAMHS & Children's Psychological Services (CPS) teams. It is envisaged that the post holder will work with Primary Mental Health Workers to map out current community-led service models, pathways and mental health champions and networks, and support collaboration and learning from best practice in each area. The post holder will be responsible for the line management and clinical management of all primary mental health workers and will have some additional responsibilities attached to the role.

The post holder should be highly visible across all PCN networks in central and ensure a good interface with practitioners working in the community.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide clinical and operational leadership to Primary Mental Health Workers and Children & Young People's Wellbeing Practitioners.
  • To be responsible for the quality and effectiveness of service delivery, working in collaboration with the Children and Young People's Service Manager.
  • Through local governance structures, to provide regular verbal and written feedback to the Network senior management team which highlight areas of good practice, areas of challenge and areas for future development.
  • To ensure that outcome measures are embedded in service delivery, including feedback from young people and families/carers and that there is evidence of these being utilised to improve outcomes, experience and performance.
  • To liaise with the Primary Mental Health Worker Steering Group and liaise with commissioners in relation to the delivery of the Youth Mental Health First Aid Training program in schools, and in relation to the developing 2+1 consultation framework and training for Primary Mental Health Workers.
  • To undertake direct clinical work, and/or supervise direct clinical work of PMHWs as appropriate.
  • To ensure that safe and effective systems for staff supervision and support are embedded in the teams, ensuring the delivery of high quality and safe clinical practice and training.
