Job summary

A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time Alzheimer's Society UKDTN Senior Research Nurse to join Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who is passionate about dementia research. The post holder will join a wider research team of Principal Investigators; research nurses, local and national UK Dementia Trials Network and Alzheimer's Society funded staff to develop and coordinate early phased dementia clinical trials across Lancashire & South Cumbria from our NIHR Lancashire Clinical Research Facility.

Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust (LCFT) delivers high quality clinical trials in partnership with the NIHR Regional Research Network and Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The Trust continues to develop and expand its capacity and capability in undertaking clinical research within its NIHR Lancashire Clinical Research Facility. As the senior research nurse you will enjoy working in a busy environment and support research activity across the Trust, ensuring all studies are undertaken to the highest standards within timelines and meeting recruitment targets.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to participate fully in their personal development and annual review process to achieve the objectives for this post. This will include engagement in Alzheimer's Society and UKDTN educational and development opportunities and preparation of an annual report to be submitted to the Alzheimer's Society and the UKDTN on progress against strategic aims of the programmes. The post holder will have a key role in supporting the clinical development and training of staff in relation to the delivery of early phase dementia clinical research including training for physical health competencies and clinical rating scale administrations

The main purpose of this post is to undertake a key leadership and management role in the Trust's Clinical Research Team. In partnership with the Research Nurse Manager, Principal Investigators, Associate Director of Research & Development and local and national UKDTN and Alzheimer's Society funded staff the post holder will be instrumental in developing and coordinating early phased dementia clinical trials across Lancashire & South Cumbria.
