Modern Matron

The closing date is 03 November 2025

Job summary

As part of the transformation of the leadership structure of LSCFT's All Age Community Learning Disability Service, two Community Modern Matron posts have been created. These Senior posts will have both operational and clinical responsibilities and play a full role in the Care Group level Senior Leadership Team and within the Senior Nursing Team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for the right candidates to join the fastest growing and most dynamic Learning Disability Service in the North West. The LSCFT Learning Disability Service now has both community and inpatient services and will open Water Meadow View in December 2025, our state-of-the-art Mental Health Inpatient Facility for people with Learning Disabilities.

As such, each of the two posts will cover either the North or South parts of the Trusts geography. North: Pennine Lancs, Lancaster, South Cumbria. South: Central Lancs, West Lancs, Fylde Coast.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicants will lead and be responsible for the delivery of high-quality care and patient experience within the care groups community settings through proactive clinical and operational leadership to the multidisciplinary staff at all levels within their area of responsibility.

The post holders will need to ensure the delivery of high quality, evidence based, compassionate, person-centred care and work collaboratively with service management, senior management and wider senior clinical staff to achieve this.

The successful candidates will have a wide range of experience in providing specialist services to adults, children or both, exceptional communication, motivational and influencing skills and be able to encourage teams to work across organisational boundaries whilst holding patient care at the heart of their work.

The post holder will deliver on the Matron's 10 Key Responsibilities across the all age community service:

  • Inclusive leadership, professional standards and accountability
  • Governance, patient safety and quality
  • Workforce planning and resource management
