This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a highly skilled team within a newly integrated service between Children and Young People's Psychological Services East Lancashire (CYPPS East) and ELCAS - Child Psychiatry. You will take a role in the delivery of quality service provision that promotes and improves the well-being of children, young people and their families. Working within a systemic and holistic framework you will support the clinicians in undertaking needs led, evidence based assessments and therapeutic interventions with children and young people, their families and carers.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced individual with a genuine interest and desire of working with this client group. You should have good verbal and written communication skills, be creative and innovative, and enjoy working in a busy clinical service. The successful applicant will be able to co-work effectively with colleagues and manage a small case load with support from case holders. You will be required to work independently with regular clinical supervision in delivering brief therapeutic interventions, undertaking school observations and conducting telephone reviews with children, young people, parents/carers on the therapies waiting list. The Assistant Psychologist role has been developed to maximise your potential learning and to experience satisfying diversity in the tasks and responsibilities undertaken.

A means of transport is essential and applicants must be willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check.

Education

Essential

  • An upper second class (2i) honours degree or higher in Psychology OR Psychology Masters Conversion Course.
  • Entitlement to Graduate membership of the British Psycho-logical Society.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Ability to undertake psychologically in-formed research pro-jects.
  • Knowledge of psy-chological methods and theories, especially child development and an ability to apply this knowledge within a clinical context.
