This is a great time to join an experienced and established team as we are looking to recruit a highly motivated registered nurse who would like to pursue a career in infection prevention and control.
This vacancy is open to internal and external staff and we would welcome applications from experienced RGN, RMN, LD and District Nursing colleagues.
Based at Darwen Health Centre the position will cover visits across the LSCFT footprint. Full training and support will be provided. There will also be the opportunity to undertake an infection prevention qualification if desired.
Main duties of the job
The infection prevention and control (IPC) Practitioner will support staff and patients within Trust by giving advice on IPC issues relating to IPC practices and patient care in all wards and community settings and recording this advice on electronic record keeping systems.
Take a prominent role in undertaking the IPC audits within the patient environments and community clinic settings. Deliver training in a bespoke way, according to service needs and maintaining the IPC Link worker role.
The post holder will be highly visible in clinical areas to maintain a clinical presence within the Trust. Clinical visits are to be undertaken when alerted to outbreaks, patient infections or cleanliness standards are compromised
You will be able to demonstrate a keen interest in infection prevention and the ability to support all grades of staff to ensure high standards of infection prevention and control are maintained within the organisation.
You will be required to demonstrate the ability to motivate others, prioritise and work in a methodical manner. You must be computer literate and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. If you can demonstrate success in achieving objectives and have the necessary skills required for implementing and supporting the management of change, then this could be the post for you.
