We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Paediatric Nurse seeking to undertake an interesting and highly rewarding clinical leadership role.

The Special Needs School Nursing Team currently provides support to children and young people in 14 schools across Pennine, Central and West Lancashire. The Special Needs School Nurses work with schools where the children have additional and/or complex medical needs. They provide a unique service in supporting, advising, educating and training school staff, families and other health providers to ensure the health needs of children and young people with complex and additional health needs are met.

This team leader role will take responsibility for the clinical leadership and management of 24 Senior Nurses, Nurses, Health Care Support Workers and Admin staff. The team leader ensures the co-ordination of resources to provide a range of care to children and young people as well as coproducing with families and Education staff to ensure high quality support to enable them to attend school.

This post provides the opportunity for a forward thinking and experienced Paediatric Nurse with extensive clinical skills and knowledgein delivering services in a school environment and/or children's complex physical needs to further advance their knowledge, skills and ability in community nursing.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will ensure a high-quality evidence-based service clinical care pathways are delivered utilising available resource effectively in a safe and supportive manner when meeting the needs of CYP and their family.

You will participate in relevant clinical networks across the Northwest ensuring your skills are maintained and providing expert information and guidance to relevant bodies on complex nursing needs and trends.You will be responsible for the clinical governance, quality improvement and performance management of the team and will provide management supervision to team members and ensure that staff within the team have opportunities for continuing professional development.

The role also involves being supported by and working collaboratively with the CYP Additional & Complex Needs Service Manager, Clinical Nurse Business Manager, Modern Matron and the Nurse Team Leaders for Children's Continuing Care and Assessment Team and Children's Complex Packages of Care Team to ensure clinical development and governance across all three teams.

You will benefit from excellent management and peer support with opportunities to work alongside specialists. A robust individual induction plan will be available dependant on your experience and supported via a tailored personal development plan if required.

You will be a car driver/owner with access to a vehicle for work purposes, or be able to travel between community settings in a timely manner across Lancashire.
