Job summary

The Learning Disability Service strives to provide forward thinking high quality services, working in partnership with other agencies. In addition to working with young people with learning disabilities and their families, we have a strong commitment to health promotion through service development and training initiatives. The post holder will, as part of a multi-disciplinary team, work towards addressing the psychological, emotional and behavioural needs of children and young people with a learning disability. They will be responsible for their caseload and deliver a range of evidence-based interventions. The post holder will also support the Autism pathway.

Adaptability, good communication skills and self-motivation are essential to the role. You will also be able to demonstrate that your practice is evidence based and innovative.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will, as part of a multi-disciplinary team, work towards addressing the health, psychological, emotional and behavioural needs of children and young people with a learning disability. They will be responsible for their caseload and supervise that of other practitioners within the service. The post holder will also take a senior role in undertaking and supporting assessments for the school aged Autism Spectrum Disorder Pathway.

The post is based within Lancashire and the main duties will be within the Lancaster and Morecambe team.

  • 2- 3 years' experience as registered nurse or equivalent
