ELCAS (East Lancashire Child and Adolescent Service) recently moved to sit with the Mental Health Trust, Lancashire and South Cumbria Foundation Trust and this has created opportunities for Service and staff development. So, this is a very exciting time for practitioners and patients within the Service.ELCAS has a range of mental health provision including a Primary Mental Health Team, Mental Health Support Teams across the localities, three Complex Sector Teams, and a Day Unit. We are a consultant led Service and we emphasise the strength of working in a multi-disciplinary way. Our main base is at Burnley General Hospital.There is a specific focus on developing more access to helping and improving the general culture of emotional support within East Lancashire.At ELCAS our vision is to be a centre of excellence providing high quality Child and Adolescent psychological and mental health services that exceed people's expectations. This vision is being delivered. We have been accredited by the Royal College of Psychiatrists' Quality Network for Community CAMHS (QNCC) since 2016 and rated Outstanding with the CQC.

Main duties of the job
The role of the ADHD Support Practitioner is integral to the sector Team Multi-Disciplinary approach for assessing and treating ADHD within children and young people of secondary school age, up to their 18th birthday. The role will focus on providing highly specialist ADHD assessments, physical health advice and guidance, risk assessments, ADHD psycho-education and management, and to be part of the wider Sector Team. Working predominantly 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday, but with a degree of flexibility within this to meet the needs of the ELCAS Service and flexible working arrangements for staff.
The post holder will undertake appropriate ADHD assessments and clinical intervention for ADHD, post diagnosis, for children and young people referred to service. The post holder will provide support, advice and consultation to families/carers and other professionals involved in the life of the child/young person.This post holder will work under the direction of the Team Co-ordinators and Consultant Psychiatrists within the Sector Teams.

Hours / sessions per week: 37.5 hours per week

To provide and maintain the highest level of care and safety of young people/children under mental health supervision. Undertake practical tasks and duties as designated by the Team Co-ordinator such as school observations to assist with diagnosis and treatment of young people with mental health disorders. To work with children and their families both within the hospital and in the community as required to meet the needs of the Team. This will include completing physical checks such as height, weight & blood pressure. To complete accurate and timely records in line with ELHT record keeping policy. To work as a member of the ELCAS Complex Team and deliver integrated multi-disciplinary practice providing comprehensive assessments to a range of children, young people and families that require an ADHD assessment, but also may have co-morbid mental health assessment needs. To assist the Mental Health Practitioners in the assessment of ADHD e.g. completing computerized tests of activity and concentration. Treat children and families with respect, courtesy and give attention to their privacy, dignity, religious and cultural beliefs at all times. Participate in clinical/managerial supervision on a regular basis Manage clinical data and play a role in both data gathering and data analysis in line with the secondary use dataset requirements as mandated by the Department of Health. Participate in the collection and management of routine outcome measures. Participate in the collection, inputting and interpretation of diagnostic information such as Connors questionnaires for ADHD Participate in clinical audit as required which may include retrieval and analysis of medical records against set standards. Work as a valued member of the team through both accepting and supporting others, being aware and sensitive to your own and others values, priorities, interests and effectiveness. Be involved in preparing the clinical environment and monitoring the use of resources as required. Be involved in the delivery and implementation of therapeutic and clinical services in conjunction with clinical and non-clinical colleagues.
