Job summary
An exciting opportunity for a healthcare support worker who has an interest in working with mums and babies on a mother and baby unit.We would welcome applicants who have a special interest in delivering high quality care to women and their babies and who have the ability to adapt and change to meet the needs of the service and the service users.
There will be a requirement that the applicant can make themselves available to attend further training to enhance their knowledge and skills.
Our priority is to provide high quality care, in the right place, at the right time, every time. By providing this facility we are ensuring that women who are at risk of, or suffering from, severe perinatal mental illnesses are given appropriate support at the earliest opportunity.
The role will require escorting, observing and supporting mums with their babies to enable their recovery and enrich the mother/infant bond. The successful applicants will be also supporting the nursing team to deliver planned care on a 24 hour basis. As a valued member of our team, reporting and documenting interactions between mother and baby is vital to enable appropriate care planning. Supporting family members (Partners/siblings/Grand parents) is also a vital skill to provide holistic perinatal care.
This post covers a 24 hour basis therefore the applicant is expected to work nights and weekends as part of their role.
Main duties of the job
Supporting the MDT to carry out the perinatal care plans.
Help with escorting patients on leave and reporting observations to nurse in charge.
Arranging and completing therapeutic activities with the mums and babies to help aid recovery.
Helping preparing meals for the mums.
Physical observations.
1:1's with the mums on the ward.
