Clinical Specialist Dietitian
This job is now closed
Job summary
Are you someone that is excited about leading on service development and supporting the most marginalised people in the community? If so, this job maybe for you!
We are looking for an enthusiastic, friendly, and confident dietitian to become part of the Mental Health Dietetic Team delivering healthcare to mental health patients.
Main duties of the job
This is a new post, so we are looking for someone that is dynamic, engaging and looking for a challenge. You will get strong support for professional, clinical, and training development by the associate director of allied health professionals and a consultant dietitian within the Trust.
You may be an experienced band 6 or 7 dietitian with knowledge of diabetes and/or weight management services looking to expand your practice in a new clinical specialism.
This post will be based at Guild Lodge Forensic Mental Health Unit within a pleasant rural location with excellent facilities (Whittingham Village, North Preston). The service is within close proximity to motorway junctions and parking on site is plentiful and free. You will be welcomed into a friendly and enthusiastic multi-disciplinary team who consistently strive towards creating the best possible care for service users.
Statistically people with serious mental illness die 15 to 20 years earlier then their counterparts.
A significant factor in this is their increased risk of cardio metabolic syndrome, diabetes, and heart disease, much of which is preventable but also a real side effect of some of the medications used.
This is an opportunity for you as a dietitian to make a real difference by being an integral part of a team developing a service which will change the health outcomes for one of society's most vulnerable group.
