We are seeking to recruit a substantive Specialty Doctor in Older Adult Psychiatry to work at The Harbour. This is a substantive, full time (10PA) post.

The Harbour In-patient Hospital, Blackpool opened in April 2015 providing the major portion of in-patient services for adult mental health services. This provides modern, comfortable and age appropriate in- patient facilities for both working-age and older adults from Lancashire requiring in-patient hospital care.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of this post is to provide medical input to the Older Adult wards at The Harbour. The requirement is for both direct care and advice/consultancy to members of the team, GPs and other practitioners. The setting in which patients are seen reflects their needs. The post holder will be expected to adopt a collaborative multidisciplinary approach to patient care according to the principles of new ways of working.

The post holder has 9 Direct Clinical Care sessions and is supported by existing Consultants.

In-patient services provides support and treatment for patients suffering from severe and enduring mental illness. The team is multidisciplinary with input from CPNs, Psychologists, OTs and support workers.

There is close working relationships with in patient, RITT and CMHT Consultants and all the doctors meet for their PDP and Peer group meetings regularly.

There may be the opportunity to join the On Call rota, for which additional remuneration is available.

About us

To be eligible to apply for this post, you must possess at least 3 year's experience in psychiatry and be fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practice. Ideally, you will be Section 12 Approved, or eligible for approval at the time of commencing employment.
