Job summary

This is an exciting time for Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust which is undergoing significant transformational change to ensure services are meeting the needs of the community that we serve.

We are looking for a Health Care Support Worker to join our team on Kentmere Ward.

The newly refurbishedKentmere ward, Kendal is situated within The Bay locality and will offer 12 en suite bedrooms newly designed and with care and attention paid to provide a state of the art therapeutic environment.

The bay locality comprises of sites acrossLancaster, Morecambe, South Cumbria and Barrow areas.

Main duties of the job

Work as an integrated member of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT), working within a rotational shift system to support patients according to their care needs.

Contribute to, and participate in the on- going support of patients and their carers.

Contribute to the health, safety and security of patients and their environment. Obtain, transmit and store information relating to the delivery of a care service

  • Can demonstrate the skills and knowledge gained through work (paid/unpaid) in a care setting and an interest in completing NVQ Level III or Higher in Health and Social Care OR Currently hold a NVQ Level III or Higher in Health and Social Care or QCF Diploma in Health and Social Care.

Knowledge

  • Demonstrates an understanding of the issues surrounding mental illness and person centred recovery
  • Understands their duties and responsibilities under the Data Protection Act with regard to patient confidentiality.

Experience

  • Experience of working with service users with mental health problems - for example working in a caring environment such as a nursing home, care home, hospital ward, home carer.
  • Working as part of a team
