Job summary

A rare opportunity has arisen and we are looking to recruit a highly motivated and proactive Band 3 Health Care Support Worker who will have a key role in delivering a high standard of care by assisting with the monitoring of physical health. Another key aspect of this role will be the therapeutic management of patients with severe mental health needs in collaboration with the care coordinators.

Blackpool Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) is based at The Gateway, Blackpool Football Stadium, Seasider's Way, Blackpool, FY1 6JX. We are a community based service that covers the Blackpool area. We review service users within their own homes, nursing/care homes, placements, hospital and in the local community. Our service users have severe and enduring mental health conditions, we work closely with them to work towards developing coping skills that will help promote independence/recovery avoiding hospital admissions where possible.

The service currently operates Monday-Friday 9am-5pm, bank holidays are not currently part of the working hours however this can change if the service requires this.

Main duties of the job

We have a wealth of disciplines based within the CMHT, including Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Psychologist, Support Workers, Pharmacists and Psychiatric Consultants. This ensures a holistic way of working and enables us to deliver the highest standard of care to our service users. We have close working links with other health departments, social services and voluntary agencies.

You must be a team player with an ability to manage your time effectively. You will need to be a good communicator, who is able to demonstrate empathy, be non-judgmental, self-motivated and committed to delivering high quality patient care. You will need to demonstrate good verbal and non-verbal communication and show evidence of good listening skills, demonstrating patience and willing to spend time with service users to discuss their care and assist them with their daily needs.

As a valued member of the team, you will need to assist the qualified members of the team in the holistic assessment and delivering of care and treatment whilst they are under the CMHT.
