Ward Manager (RMN) (7K Incentive*)

Information:

This job is now closed

Job summary

We do more to support your career development. The current Ward Manager on our Ramsey assessment unit in Barrow has been successful in progressing their career internally and we are now offering the same development opportunities to our new Ward Manager. You will be supported in developing your career and your compassionate leadership approach to build on the excellent team working and patient care delivered on Ramsey. Situated alongside our acute mental health inpatient unit, both Ward Managers support each other, with the support of the wider leadership team.

We are located on the Furness peninsula with the beauty of Cumbria and the Lake District on the doorstep. The shopping and attractions of Barrow and Ulverston are close by as well as historic Lancaster. If you are considering relocating to join us and are new to the Trust you may be eligible to receive relocation expenses of up to £8K to make that dream move to the Lakes a reality, as well as the £7K Welcome Bonus package*.

Main duties of the job

As a Registered Mental Health Nurse, you will demonstrate clinical leadership and be responsible for the delivery of patient care, managing all aspects of clinical standards and professional practice. We are seeking an individual who is empathic, caring and motivated with a real passion to improve the lives of our patients. You will be an accessible presence on the ward, to whom staff, patients and their families can turn for assistance, advice and support. You will report to the Matron and actively promote teamwork, respect, integrity, accountability, excellence and compassion within the ward team in accordance with the Trust values and NMC code of conduct.

Our Ramsey unit is for adults with organic illness such as dementia, based at Furness General Hospital. The unit provides a comprehensive multi-disciplinary team based assessment and treatment for people suffering from mental health problems when they are unable to remain in their own environment, delivering an individual care and treatment plan in a safe supported environment affording privacy and dignity.

We know that our ward gets great feedback, a carer told us recently "We were impressed with the clean, light, airy and suitable environment. The staff worked as a team. Each one appeared to know what individual skills were needed to do their job. There was always a smile and a warm welcome when we visited and staff were interested in listening about what we knew about the service user's past life.
