Job summary
You will have an NVQ3 in care or equivalent care experience. You will be able to relate to children, have good organisational skills and be able to work independently accessing supervision as required. You will be calm in a crisis, quick to learn and happy to work rotational shift patterns. It is essential that you are able to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service. The service provides support to families over a 24 hour period, 7 days per week, and 52 weeks a year. You will need to be able to work week days, weekends, evenings, nights and bank holidays. All of the children require support overnight therefore shifts will be predominantly night shifts: however some children do require support during the day.
Due to this post's requirements to support female patients with carrying out their personal cares, applicants must be female. This role is compliant with the Equality Act 2010 (Schedule 9, Work: Exceptions, Part 1, Occupational requirements).

Hours: Full and Part Time hours available - Shifts working including night duty and bank holidays, throughout the year
Contract: Permanent
Base: Ashton Health Centre, Preston (but working throughout the Lancashire foot print)
Main duties of the job
We offer you the opportunity to join our specialist team, providing care and support to children and young people living within Lancashire who have complex health care needs (some of whom are technology dependant) and need your help to live life to the full in their own homes, school and in other community settings. The children we support have varied medical needs including oxygen therapy, tracheostomies and ventilation support. You will be trained to provide care to individual children in their own home and in other community settings and will be supported by a dedicated team of registered nurses.
You will benefit from excellent management and peer support, competency based training, a personal and professional development plan and flexible working arrangements. Experience of working with children, particularly those with special needs would be advantageous.
You will be a car driver/owner with access to a vehicle for work purposes or be able to travel between community visits in a timely manner, which may be anywhere within Lancashire LSCFT's footprint.
