We are currently looking to recruit Horticulture Assistants on a permanent basis.
The post holder's primary role is to works as member of the "Grow Your Own" team and provide key entry horticultural operations to the service and assist in the ongoing development and upkeep of the initiative.

Main duties of the job

Work as a team member under the supervision and guidance of the project manager you will assist with the ongoing requirements and needs in-line with the seasonal programmes.
Take responsibility for the timely harvesting of the organically grown crops and timely delivery to the on-site kitchen and wider community.
Assist with the seasonal propagation and plant production programme, understanding and supporting the collection of produce at the right time.
Assist with maintenance of polytunnel's, outdoor beds and structures in keeping with the seasonal maintenance programme.
Under supervision assist with maintaining the systems and development of the project area within the service.
Under supervision implement organic methods of pest and weed control in-keeping with seasonal requirements.
Assist with the upkeep and development of the flora and fauna within the project area paying specific attention to health and safety.
To assist in maintaining equipment in safe working order and in a way that minimises cross infection.
