The Bay have had an exciting investment initiative, this has led to the creation of new posts within the Allied Health Professional (AHP) services and provides an opportunity for successful applicants to deliver specialist therapeutic input to the mental health team for Dietetics, Speech and Language Therapy, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy.

We are looking for a Physiotherapist, to join our expanding inpatient adult mental health inpatient services, based at Dane Garth in Barrow. We are seeking an individual who has the desire to build upon their transferable clinical and leadership skills and embed a culture of learning and development within the Allied Health Professionals. A specialist interest within frailty and falls prevention would be desirable,however not essential. Whilst working to high standards of professional patient-centred care, you will be supported to progress and to achieve your potential as both a leader and a clinician.

At Dane Garth there are currently two mental health inpatient wards based in Furness General Hospital, which can take admissions from across the country. Ramsey Unit is a mental health inpatient service for predominantly older adults with an organic illness, such as Dementia. Dova Unit is an acute mental health inpatient service, for predominantly working age adults. The overall goal is to re-establish the person's optimumindependence and make sure that there is provision of support to facilitate a safe and efficient discharge.

Main duties of the job

Provide a high standard of specialist physiotherapy input to the mental health physiotherapy team. Hours required to be worked over 5 days, Monday to Friday, between 08.30am and 16:30pm, depending on service need.

To assess and treat inpatients within an inpatient ward setting as an autonomous practitioner

Physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions, to provide a diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme.

Hold responsibility for own complex caseload and be responsible for a defined area of the service or a particular patient type, working without direct supervision.

The post holder will ensure their own personal development and participate in the development of others

To supervise, educate and assess the performance of physiotherapy students to ensure the standard of practice and teaching meets the degree standard

Undertake evidence-based audit and contribute to research projects. Make recommendations to clinical lead/manager for service improvement
