Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Registered Nurse to provide clinical nursing leadership as a Band 8a Community Matron for the 0-19 Universal Health Visiting and School Nursing Service.
The 0-19 Universal Service provides Health Visiting and School Nursing services to children and young people aged 0-19 within the Blackburn with Darwen Local Authority area. The post holder will be expected to provide leadership and clinical expertise to all staff within this service working alongside the children and young people's (CYP) physical health services within the Pennine locality.
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the quality of service delivery of Health Visiting and School Nursing services and extensive clinical knowledge of the health needs of children and young people and delivery of these services is essential for this role. The post holder will have substantial experience of working with children and young people to deliver health services across all age groups.
The post holder will also provide leadership by example, being visible within teams and receiving feedback on standards from staff, visitors and service users. You will work alongside the Service Manager to provide nursing expertise and driving forward quality of care within the service.
Working hours are Monday - Friday 09:00 - 17:00 although some flexibility in regard to start and finish times may be required.
Main duties of the job
The 0-19 Universal Service provides Health Visiting and School Nursing services to the children and young people that reside in the local authority area of Blackburn wirh Darwen. The post holder will be expected to providing leadership and clinical expertise to the 0-19 Universal Health visiting and School nursing service.
The post holder will have clinical knowledge and esperience relating to the physical and public health needs of children and families; they will be responsible for ensuring the quality of health care provided to children and young people within the 0-19 Universal service.
The postholder will provide a visible, accessible and authoritative presence across the network. The post holder will ensure that the nursing workforce have capabilities that are appropriate and fit for the needs of the local population.
The Post Holder must be clinically up to date and creditable/have clinical skills expecting others to perform and passionate about driving up clinical and professional standards. The post holder will explore current practice, identifying areas for development and planning appropriate change using research and experience to evaluate the outcomes
