Lancashire and South Cumbria Foundation Trust are able to offer a fantastic opportunity for staff to undertake the MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice through the apprenticeship route, which is open to all registered health professionals across Nursing and Allied Health Professional's commencing in either September 2023 or January 2024.
The aim of the Msc programme is to prepare trainees to develop contemporary practice and independent clinical decision making at an advanced level. Trainees will be supported to develop their capacity for critical analysis and transference of knowledge to practice.
A number of posts will be available across the trust in the following Lancashire Mental Health inpatient locations:
- The Harbour
- Pendleview, Blackburn
- Whalley
- Scarisbrick, Ormskirk
- Chorley Hospital

Main duties of the job
In order to apply for the apprenticeship, candidates must meet the below essential criteria:
- Currently be working at band 7 or band 6, have at least three years post registration clinical experience in practice at this level or proof of equivalent experience in practice
- A minimum of 2:2 class First Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject from an approved institution of higher education
- Have a current professional registration with a relevant professional or statutory body such as the Nursing and Midwifery Council or Health and Care Professions Council
- Be able to provide relevant references
- Be in possession of original certificates for Maths and English GCSEs at Grade C/4+ or equivalent such as Level 2 functional skills - these will need to be produced after shortlisting if you are successful.
What support can students expect during training?
The programme is taught by lecturers and expert clinical practitioners in their field who will offer dedicated academic support and guidance and students will be allocated a named personal tutor. Students will also be supported in the workplace be designated practice mentors and facilitators. You will be supported through dedicated time to attend university and gain skills in the practice settings
