Main duties of the job

This fantastic opportunity is for existing mental health professionals to complete their training as CBT therapists.

The trainee CBT therapists will work within the NHS Lancashire & South Cumbria Talking Therapies service, providing CBT to people experiencing anxiety and depression.

The training will take place with either Chester University or the University of Cumbria and will be mainly face to face teaching at their university campus in Chester or Lancaster.

Trainees will complete on average 2 days per week at University with clients on the other days (12 per week), you will be completing University Assignments and submitting practical tapes for supervision. Client work will be mainly face to face sessions with some remote/video sessions.

We are seeking dynamic, hardworking and enthusiastic individuals who already have considerable experience and training and who are searching for the opportunity to train in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. For example, you may already be working as a mental health nurse, occupational therapist, social worker, counsellor or be a newly qualified psychologist with substantial clinical experience.

We welcome applications from experienced Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (PWPs) and Senior PWPs.

The trainee role is a 12-month, fixed-term Band 6 opportunity, and those who successfully complete the training and gain provisional accreditation with the British Association for Cognitive and Behavioural Psychotherapies (BABCP) will have an opportunity to apply to progress to permanent Band 7 roles.
