Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join LSCFT Medical Education Team. Based in Dane Garth, Barrow in Furness you will be joining an existing Psychiatry Medical Education Facilitators working with medical students from Lancaster Medical School.

We welcome applications from Registered Mental Health practitioner e.g. Nurse, allied health care professional with significant post registration experience at a band 6 or above. You will have experience of leadership and teaching and mentoring learners and specialist clinical expertise.

The purpose of the role is to deliver high quality undergraduate medical training for medical students on placement within the Trust. You will ensure the programme meets learning and assessment requirements in relation to Lancaster Medical School curriculum. You will provide evidence based education using diverse teaching methods, including tutorials, case based discussions, and simulated patient and small group discussions.

Main duties of the job

The aim of the post is to meet the responsibilities of the Trust in relation to the provision of medical education and training. In collaboration with education providers the post holder assists in the management of medical students and placements from Lancaster Medical School into a range of placements within LSCF.

The post holder will be responsible for developing high quality student placements and delivering the psychiatry curriculum requirements through specialist knowledge and expertise. They will utilise a wide range of teaching methods to ensure medical students meet the medical training curriculum and quality assurance requirements.

The post holder will maintain effective links between service and education teams regarding placement issues.

They will establish effective working relationships with senior and junior medical staff and other clinicians involved in medical education and training.

The post holder will be supported by an existing Medical Education Facilitator and medical education coordinator to develop their role.
