This vacancy provides an opportunity for qualified nurses and midwives who have a keen interest in public health to become student health visitors, to enable them to learn the essential skills to deliver the healthy child programme and provide early intervention and support for children and families to ensure they reach their full potential
The role is advertised as an Apprenticeship working alongside qualified health visitors and attending LJM university.
We are currently waiting for the Government decision regarding the future of Health Visitor and School Nurse Apprenticeships.
Should the Government decide to stop the Apprenticeship model we will still offer the vacancy and standard SCPHN course, however this will be offered on a fixed term contract.

This is a developmental role. The Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN)
Apprenticeship Programme is a 53-week education programme working towards a Registered Specialist Community Public Health Nurse with a Post Graduate Diploma in SCPHN School Nursing (SN) or Health Visiting (HV).
The course combines workbased and academic learning between Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust and the chosen Higher Education Institute (HEI).
As a SCPHN apprentice, you will be based, as a paid employee, within Mersey Care NHS FT where you will gain experience working across internal practice learning environments to gain an appreciation of local healthcare services.
You will be required to actively engage with a range oflearning opportunities and experiences in order to meet the requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and the Institute for Apprenticeships.
During the post-registration SCPHN programme, you will develop skills and knowledge that will allow you to work in todays dynamic and changing healthcare environments.
You will be required to commit to self directed study and successfully complete the programme within the contracted period.
On successful completion of the programme, you will be eligible to apply for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, SCPHN (HV) or SCPHN (SN) therefore you must meet all of the programme requirements as set by the NMC. In addition, you will be required to complete an end point assessment.
SCPHN apprentices are equipped with the knowledge, understanding, skills, attitudes and behaviours relevant to employment; and will act in accordance with the NMC Code: Professional standards of practice and behaviour for nurses, midwives and nursing associates.
